Big Idea: Dust mites are found in numerous places around the home.
Talking Points:
- There are at least 11 major species of dust mites worldwide. Two of the most common types are found in the warm humid climate of North Carolina.
- Dust mites are found in mattresses, pillows, carpets, upholstered furniture, bedcovers, clothes, stuffed toys, fabric, and fabric-covered items like curtains.
- Remember that dust mites are found in every home. They are not hitchhikers, like bed bugs, and cannot be tracked and baited, like cockroaches.
